Maria Teresa Cocco
My mother was born on October 4th, 1936; ever
since her childhood she has been called
"Mariella". She had her studies at a Liceo Magistrale, but only much later
did she get a degree in Psychology (1975), because she initially set in the
praiseworthy task of giving life to me and my brothers!
She married my father
in 1958, and had her first son, Paolo, the following year, soon to
be followed by Martino (1961) and myself (1966).
She began teaching at Elementary schools very early, in 1957, but quit soon,
to start again in 1973, the year she parted from my father. Those
were difficult years, but Mariella has always had a lot of loving friends
who helped her solve the problems of a new life.
In 1979 she won a position of School Manager
and obtained the direction of three elementary schools
in Mestre. That's what she is still doing now, with a lot of satisfactions
for her and for her students and teachers.
In 1982 she married Sergio Serra, who does research for elementary school
teaching and has recently gone back to teaching himself.
They live in Spinea, not far from Venice,
with a dog named Artu', a ten-year-old, fourty-five-pounder
Epagneul-Breton.
Mariella has become a grandmother six years ago,
with the birth of Enrico, the son of Martino and Michela, on April 29, 1993.
Enrico was then joined three years ago by a new sister, Martina.
The arrival of a third nephew, Filippo (my son),
finally happened on March 19th, 1999...
