under the auspices of Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Padova and Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare

The  fifteenth session of the series "Selected Topics in Nuclear and Atomic Physics" will take place from September 30th to October 4th, 2015. Since 1999 we have moved the site of the meeting from Varenna, its traditional site, to Fiera di Primiero, a small town in the Italian Dolomites. Thanks to the hospitality of the local authorities the meeting will be held at the Palazzo delle Miniere, an ancient medieval palace dating from the XV century.   

Along the tradition of the previous meetings, the skeleton of the program will be formed by a series of  lectures on different subjects of general interest. The topics for this year and the corresponding lecturers are:

• Recent results and future perspectives in the study of the collective response of exotic nuclei  (Thomas Aumann, GSI)

• Single and multi-nucleon transfer reactions between heavy ions from above to below the Coulomb barrier  (Lorenzo Corradi, LNL)

• Radionuclides for medical applications (Adriano Duatti, Ferrara)

• Phase transitions in nuclei (Luciano Moretto, Berkeley)

• Symmetries and correlations beyond mean field and the connection with spectroscopic observables (Dario Vretenar, Zagreb)

Accommodation.
Participants will stay at the CONCA VERDE Hotel (http://www.hconcaverde.it/). The Conference Fee of 500,00 Euro  includes lodging and full pension from September 29th, dinner, to October 4th, lunch.

Travel.
Fiera can be reached by Atesina bus from Feltre (Bus stops just in front of Feltre railways station).
Buses are leaving Feltre at 8:00 (weekday);  9:45; 12:10 (weekday); 13:10; 15:00 (weekday); 16:00 (weekday); 17:20, 18:45 (weekend), 20:05. Travel takes approximately 60 minutes. The complete schedule of the buses can be found clicking here. The ticket for the bus can be bought at Atesina Office in the train station hall.

Feltre can be reached via Padova or  via Venezia-Mestre.  

If you go via Padova you first reach Padova train station by bus from Venice airport.  
There is a bus (SITA lines), approx. 60 minutes. Schedule can be found  here. Ticket can be bought at the bus stop, outside the airport arrival hall. Price: 8,50 euro (10,00 euro on board).  

From Padova (train station) to Feltre:
There is a railway line from Padova Station. Schedule can be found  here. Train ticket can  be bought at the train station.

If you go via Venezia-Mestre your first reach Venezia-Mestre train station by bus.
There is a bus (ATVO lines), approx. 20 minutes. Schedule can be found  here. Ticket can be bought at the ATVO Office in the airport arrival hall.

From Venezia-Mestre (train station) to Feltre:
There is a railway line from Padova Station. Schedule can be found  here. Train ticket can  be bought at the station.

Social activities.
A small welcome is organized for Tuesday 29 September evening, at 9:00 p.m.
A full afternoon excursion will be scheduled during the Meeting (please remember to bring your trekking or comfortable walking shoes).
On Friday evening there will be a public lecture by Giulio Peruzzi, professor of History of Science at the University of Padova, on the life and the work of Ettore Majorana.

Weather.
It is hoped that the weather will be sunny throughout the entire period. Evenings, however, tend to be rather cool and you are thus encouraged to bring along a warm sweater and/or a rain jacket.
