Target skills and knowledge: This course will give an introduction to the various problems and approaches to quantize the gravitational interaction. We will analyze GR as an EFT, study possible UV completions and the constraints following from consistency theorems, the asymptotic freedom scenario, black hole evaporation and the path integral for Euclidean gravity. At the end of the course students should be able to understand current challenges and open problems in this field, mastering basic field theory techniques to address the consequences of the quantization of the gravitational interaction.
